  • Food services firm Aramark to buy Avendra, AmeriPride in $2.35 billion deal

  • CVS makes $66 billion dollar bid for Aetna— If CVS bought health insurer Aetna at the proposed price, the $66 billion deal would be the largest ever in health insurance history, based on analysis of Thomson Reuters data.

  • Multinational tech conglomerate Cisco agrees to acquire software provided BroadSoft for $1.9 billion

  • Clariant and U.S. group Huntsman abandoned their $20 billion merger deal in a win for activist investors who fought against it for months.

  • JPMorgan buys fintech start-up WePay. Whilst JP did not disclose the value of the acquisition, the Wall Street Journal reported the price being above $220 million

  • Akzo Nobel, the Dutch company behind Dulux Paint, has approached US Axalta Coating Systems over a potential $30 billion merger. This marks a reversal in Nobel’s previous opposition to mergers, as shown by its resistance to a takeover by PPG Industries
